Sunday, July 19th, the FIFA World Cup final 2026, you can see for free in Central Park, in the Great Lawn area, set to accommodate up to 50 thousand spectators.
The game will close a tournament lasted over a month and played between the United States, Canada and Mexico. Spain, which beat France in the semi-finals, and Argentina, qualified after a win against England.
The finals will play a few miles from Manhattan, New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, commonly known as MetLife Stadium where over 80,000 spectators are expected. The stadium, inaugurated in 2010, is the venue where home matches play the two American football teams in New York, the Giants and the Jets. Over the years it has already hosted important international events, such as the 2014 Super Bowl, the Copa América Centenario final in 2016 and the World Club final in 2025.
To allow as many people to attend such an important event, the New York City and FIFA wanted to organize a public screening. The very high participation and public space “limited”, have pushed the administration to establish a system of access control for security and public order management.
To avoid uncontrolled influx of people, the municipality of New York decided not to allow free access to the lawn, but to distribute 50 thousand free tickets through an online lottery that ended on July 15. Only those who have been drawn, in fact, can access the event.
The Great Lawn gates will open at 12:00, three hours ahead of the start of the game, set for 15:00 local time. This advance is used to spread the arrival of 50 thousand spectators and to complete security controls without creating excessive queues to the entrances.
The conduct of the day on the main stage was entrusted to Charlamagne tha God and Elvis Duran, two well-known American radio conductors, who will entertain the audience before the game and during the interval.
In addition to the screening on the maxi-screen, the event will include side initiatives, in particular the gastronomic ones, in fact there will be several food stands that will serve snacks and dishes to celebrate diversity
