With the arrival of spring, New York also changes the way to live music. In the indoor season, made of arenas and closed clubs, it is flanked by the large outdoor spaces, which for many New Yorkers coincides with the beginning of summer programming. And so the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, the amphitheatre facing the Atlantic Ocean, about 50 kilometers from Manhattan, within the Jones Beach State Park. The structure, inaugurated in 1952 and several times renewed, has a capacity of about 15,000 spectators and is often inserted in the circuits of the great North American tours, also for its location easily reachable from New York City and the rest of the so-called “Tri-State” region.
One of the distinctive features of the theatre is its architectural configuration: the stage is built directly above the Zachs Bay, an internal bay separating the ocean coast from the mainland. This element, in addition to affecting acoustics – more open and less reflective than closed systems – makes the arena particularly suggestive.
For the 2026 season, programming alternates names of mainstream pop, hip hop artists and historical figures of rock and country. Over the years, Jones Beach’s stage has hosted artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Madonna, making it basically an almost obligatory stage for summer tours on the East Coast.
